I’m Emma, artist, illustrator & creator.

Hi there! I’m Emma, an artist and designer based near Worthing on the South Coast. Petal & Pencil is a small creative studio specialising in nature inspired paper goods, all designed by me and printed with love here in the UK.

All of my designs begin life as a drawing in my sketchbook. I love to collect gardening books from charity shops to use as drawing references, and you’ll often find me wandering around a botanical garden with my sketchbook in one hand, and an oat latte in the other. The sketches eventually become either an acrylic gouache painting, or a hand drawn illustration in Procreate, before being turned in to designs for products.

The last few weeks in the studio ☀️ Drawing, painting & designing ✍🏻
I spent this morning making art with some friends and added this little floral piece to this growing collection 🌸 these are all going to feature on the new card designs ☀️

I had a productive day yesterday working on lots of new designs. A mix of digital work in Procreate for these 3 floral vases, and lots of coloured pencil pieces on paper too 🌸 ✍🏻
